Automated Gas Odorization Unit (AGOU) is designed for a dosed supply and metering of the supplying odorant (ethyl mercaptan С2Н5SH) to natural gas flow before supplying it to a consumer in an automatic, semi-automatic or a manual mode.

Automated Gas Odorization Unit (AGOU) is designed for operating in macroclimatic areas with moderate and moderate cold climate (NF), as well in areas with a cold climate (F).
AGOU includes the following main elements:
AGOU has 3 modes: automatic, semi-automatic and manual.
Control is carried out from the control unit BU-103М (hereinafter is referred to as BU) that is installed in an operator’s room.
Odorizer control unit shows the following parameters:
One can enter data of actual odorant density manually.
BU provides a constant control for odorizer equipment condition and for any deviations from the specified value. If a such problem takes place BU generates a “Gas Odorizer Failure” signal that will be transferred to a high level. Signal type: dry contact.
An automatic dosing mode through the metering solenoid valve (MSV) with automatic setting of the gas flow rate is carried out as follows: in automatic mode a signal about the gas flow rate can be transferred to the BU by three ways:
1. As a current signal with a range of 4 to 20 mA. A minimum GDS flowrate meets 4 mA of the BU setting, a nominal (maximum) value of the GDS flowrate is 20 mA of the BU setting. The values of the minimum and nominal flowrate of every particular GDS are recorded by a manufacturer in the BU memory.
2. As a direct value of gas flow through a MODBUS channel
3. As a pulse signal from the flowmeter with the setting of the gas flow rate corresponding to one pulse.
A semi-automatic dosing mode is carried out through a metering solenoid valve with a manual setting of gas flow. In this mode, the gas flow rate to quantify the odorant dosing amount is set manually by an operator. The operator receives current gas flow rate (Qflow) from an external gas flow metering device and records this data in the BU ("Manual flow rate" function in the operating menu) using a keypad. A main signal forms a volumetric capacity and frequency of the solenoid metering valve actuation. A minimum interval of MSV switching on corresponds to the maximum GDS flowrate recorded in the memory of the BU./p>
A manual dosing mode is carried out through a regulating valve. This mode is a reserve one and it is applied in case of failure of automatic dosing system.
Gas odorization unit in a cabinet design can be equipped by an inner explosion-proof light, gas pollution sensors and a fire and security alarm.
AGOU that is designed as a container is equipped by a fire and security alarm, an automatic forced air ventilation and gas pollution sensors. This container has water heating from an external source or from electricity. This unit is an explosion-proof one.
