Area of usage

Fuel, Startup & Pulsed Gas Treatment Unit (UPTPG) пis designed to supply fuel, startup and pulsed gas to compressor shops with gas turbine, compressor devices and power plants for own needs of the unit with a gas turbine actuator.

Basic functions of the UPTPG:

  • gas purification from solid and liquid impurities;
  • gas flow metering;
  • gas preheating before its reduction;
  • gas pressure reduction;
  • treatment (drying) of pulsed gas;
  • automatization of technological processes.

UPTPG is a monoblock or multi-block container of full factory readiness, providing for installation on a prepared foundation in the place of operation.

UPTPG consists of:

  •  a process unit
  •  a commercial gas flow metering unit

The process unit together with a heating system is a modular product with process equipment inside the block-container in full factory readiness

The process unit includes

  •  a gas purification system;
  •  a gas heating system;
  •  a gas pressure reduction system to own needs;
  •  a control cabinet.

The commercial gas flow metering unit is made on the basis of the quick-detachable restriction orifice with the use of a FloBoss flow computer. It is possible to use other gas measuring systems upon agreement with the customer.

A distinctive feature is the system for automatic gas temperature monitoring and maintaining at the output line. This system operates on the principle of regulating the volume of the heat transfer fluid passing through the heat exchanger depending on the gas temperature at the outlet and to maintain it within the set limits regardless of the change in the volume of gas passing through the UPTPG.

The final equipment and the number of units and systems are determined by a design technical assignment.

The UPTPG process flow diagram has 100% redundancy of the main process equipment and is equipped with isolation valves with the possibility of remote or automatic control of the process. In case of emergency situations the UPTPG process flow diagram allows closing the inlet and outlet pipelines and automatically gas releasing to the flare, thereby ensuring a high degree of protection of the entire gas-using system.

The UPTPG is equipped by an automatic fire fighting system, a gas control system and a security and fire alarm. All process units have a forced ventilation. The heating unit for gas reduction and heating is carried out by radiators with the supply of a heat transfer fluid from the heating system.

UPTPG automatic control system is based on Simatic series controllers S7-1200 and S7-300 produced by Siemens.

ACS of UPTPG carries out the following functions: САУ УПТПИГ

  • remote control of isolation valves and other process equipment;
  • control from an unauthorized penetration into the UPTPG;
  • gas contamination control in the premises of the UPTPG;
  • control of the security and fire alarm system;
  • output of information on the status of equipment and process to the operator’s panel;
  • automatic activation of exhaust fans, a warning light and sound alarm when the allowable concentration of combustible gases is increased;
  • automatic discharge of condensate from the filters into the condensate collection tank;
  • automatic cut-off of gas supply to the boilers when the permissible concentration of combustible gases is exceeded;
  • maintenance of archives with technological information, drawing up and printing of reports and tables;
  • transfer of process parameters, information on gas consumption and warning emergency signals to the control room through a leased line, telephone line, GSM, etc.

The input registry cabinet is equipped by UPS with gel-type batteries, ensuring the power supply to APCS in case of power outage for a period of 48 hrs. The information regarding the power outage, battery charge level and electric meter data are sent through APCS to the operator’s room.

Working conditions

UPTPG is designed for operation in areas with moderate and moderate cold climate (UHL in Russian, NF in English) as well in regions with cold climate (HL in Russian, F in English). A climatic version of UPTPG is chosen depending on construction area according to the requirements of GOST 15150–69. UPTPG can be operated in regions with seismicity of 9.0 magnitude on the Richter scale according to the Construction regulation SNiP P-7-81. Designed snow load (200kgf/m2) complies with the requirements of the 5th territorial region; wind load (85kgf/m2) complies with the 7th territorial region according to the SNiP 2.01.07–85
